South West Camp for Disabled Children

A residential holiday camp for children with primarily physical disabilities.

Our volunteers provide all overnight care, accommodation, catering and activities for up to 25 children from Sunday 20th to Saturday 26th August.

Children should be aged 9-16 and have a diagnosed condition or disability which our volunteers will be able to support with a care plan advised by parents/carers. The charity is Ofsted registered and has been Outstanding at each of our inspections, which includes care, safeguarding, training volunteers and outcomes for children.

Activities include: Pottery, balloon modelling, camp fires, bingo, a sports day with Bristol Bears including wheelchair rugby & target Sport. Swimming,  yoga and a disco. There will also be day trips to Bristol Aquarium and Pizza Express, bowling and Noah’s Ark.

Volunteers go through safer recruitment and have an Enhanced DBS check as well as safeguarding training. Care is provided in teams or pairs of people over 18 according to detailed plans which are agreed by parents/carers.
